LEICESTER โ On Sunday, August 17, 2025, at approximately 10:51 a.m., Officer Paul Pepin of the Leicester Police Department was monitoring traffic in the area of 1140 Main Street when he observed a blue 2102 Subaru Outback with Rhode Island plates traveling west past his location.

โI queried the vehicle’s registration on CJIS [the FBIโs Criminal Justice Information Services] and it displayed the vehicle had a ‘Canceled’ registration status as of January 31, 2024,โ Officer Paul Pepin said. โI also observed the vehicle activate its brakes while passing me and neither of its driver’s side or passenger side brake lights illuminated. Only its middle (third) brake light was activated.โ
Officer Pepin said he initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of 1530 Main Street and the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of Cumberland Farms.
โI radioed dispatch my location and vehicle information. I exited my cruiser and approached the vehicle’s driver’s side and identified myself to the female operator,โ Officer Pepin said. โAt this time, she provided me a Rhode Island driver’s license which positively identified her as Hannah Anderson.โ
According to police, Hannah L. Anderson, 28, is a resident of North Brookfield, MA.

โI informed Ms. Anderson of the vehicle’s registration status and returned to my cruiser to further query her information. CJIS displayed that Ms. Anderson had a ‘Suspended’ driverโs license in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts due to ‘OUI Liquor or .08%’ as of July 2, 2024.โ
Officer Pepin then requested an additional police unit respond to the scene to assist.
Shortly thereafter, Sergeant Matthew Brady and Officer Ives Fisher arrived on scene to assist.
โI requested dispatch to send for a certified copy of suspension and the next available tow to my location,โ Officer Pepin said. โI exited my cruiser and approached Ms. Anderson’s vehicle where I subsequently ordered her out of the vehicle and placed her under arrest without incident. She was handcuffed (Double-locked) behind her back and escorted to the right-passenger compartment of my cruiser where she was seat belted and secured. A motor vehicle inventory was completed per policy.โ
Officer Pepin said that, during the vehicle inventory, Officer Ives Fisher located an orange prescription pill labeled โIc-Lisdexamfetamine 30 mgโ prescribed to an individual by the name of Oliver Brewer.
โThe prescription bottle contained 22 orange/white capsules labeled ‘ALV 564’ and one white oval pill imprinted ‘U33,โโ Officer Pepin said. โUsing a pill finder app, officers discovered that ALV 564 is assigned to Ic-Lisdexamfetamine 30 mg and is a central nervous system stimulant. Through my previous training and experience, I identified the white oval pill imprinted ‘U33’ as Lorazepam. This was later confirmed on a pill finder app as well. A short time later, Worcester County Towing took possession of the vehicle.โ
Officer Pepin transported Anderson to the Leicester Police Department where she was booked on the following charges/violations:
- Operate Motor Vehicle with License Suspended for OUI
- Unregistered Motor Vehicle
- Lights Violation
- Possess Class E Drug (two counts)
Andersonโs bail was set at $500.
โFollowing booking, Ms. Anderson was transported to Spencer Police Department until later bailed,โ Officer Pepin said. โThe seized Class E drugs were submitted as evidence and will be sent to the UMass Drugs of Abuse Laboratory for analysis.โ
Anderson was arraigned in East Brookfield District Court on Aug. 18, 2025, during which time her bail was reduced to personal recognizance. Following her arraignment, the $500 cash bail she initially posted was returned to her and Anderson was released on personal recognizance.
Andersonโs next scheduled court date was a pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 21, 2025.
