Officer Carlson said he went inside to speak with the reporting party.

โ€œ[Linda] informed me her and her friend, Marlene [last name redacted], were talking in the lobby when a man, later identified as Luis Bermudez, came in and would not leave them alone,โ€ Officer Carlson said.

According to police, Luis Bermudez, 67, resides in an apartment at 161 Spruce Street in Leominster, MA.

Linda told Officer Carlson that she was sitting directly across from Marlene in the lobby of the building, which is a common area.

โ€œThe lobby is an area that is open to members of the building, members of the public are allowed access to it as well,โ€ Officer Carlson explained.

Linda stated that Bermudez sat down next to Marlene and placed his hand on her shoulder. Linda asked Marlene if she wanted his hand there, and Marlene said she did not.

โ€œ[Linda] then advised him to remove his hand. Mr. Bermudez then looked at her and told her to โ€˜Shut the hell up,โ€™โ€ Officer Carlson recounted.

Linda then told Bermudez that if he didnโ€™t remove his hand, she would be calling the police.

โ€œAt this time, [Marlene] returned to her apartment because she was uncomfortable with the situation,โ€ Officer Carlson said. Later adding, โ€œMr. Bermudez then began yelling at [Linda] telling her she was โ€˜Prejudiced against Puerto Ricans.โ€™ [Linda] then called 911 as Mr. Bermudez would not leave her alone. While on the phone with 911, Mr. Bermudez continued to yell at [Linda] and got close to her.โ€

Officer Carlson said he then went to speak with Marlene.

โ€œShe informed me she went down to the lobby to see if any of her friends were there to chat with her,โ€ Officer Carlson said. โ€œShe stated while down there the man came in and would not leave them alone. He then kept touching her shoulder. [Marlene] told me this made her extremely uncomfortable.โ€

Marlene added that when Linda told Bermudez to stop touching her, he didnโ€™t listen.

โ€œDue to this, she decided to return to her room,โ€ Officer Carlson said. โ€œ[Marlene] told me she does not wish to press charges at this time, but stated if it occurs again, she will want to pursue charges.โ€

Officer Carlson told Marlene to call 911 immediately if something else transpires.

โ€œI then went down to speak with the other officers on scene,โ€ Officer Carlson said. โ€œWhile conducting my investigation, other officers informed me Mr. Bermudez would not stop screaming. He was advised to stop multiple times as the yelling was causing a large crowd of residents to form in the lobby.โ€

Officer Carlson said a group of roughly 10 โ€“ 12 residents had formed in the lobby due to โ€œBermudez screaming outside the building.โ€

โ€œMr. Bermudez was then placed under arrest after he had been informed to calm down multiple times,โ€ Officer Carlson said.

Luis Bermudez was arrested and charged with the following violations/offenses:

  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Disturbing the Peace
  • Accost/Annoy Another Person

Bermudez was arraigned on Dec. 1, 2025, in Leominster District Court. Following his arraignment, he was released on personal recognizance. Bermudezโ€™s next court date is a pretrial conference hearing scheduled for Dec. 31, 2025.
