SHREWSBURY — On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at approximately 3:16 p.m., Shrewsbury police officers were dispatched to the Shaw’s supermarket at 50 Boston Turnpike for a report of a shoplifting in progress.

“Loss prevention provided information on the male, who passed all points of sale without paying, with the store’s merchandise in his possession,” Officer Juaire said. “He was detained by officers without incident, and identified as Preston Mitchell.”
According to police, Preston A. Mitchell, 55, is a resident of Worcester, MA.
A loss prevention associate provided police with an itemized receipt for the shoplifted merchandise, which came out to $288.90.
Preston Mitchell was charged with:

Mitchell was arraigned in Westborough District Court on Nov. 28, 2025, where he pleaded not guilty.
During his arraignment, Judge Stuart Hurowitz classified the shoplifting by asportation charge as a decriminalized offense, found Mitchell responsible, and the case was filed.
