Princeton cop injured after individual approaches with shovel during domestic call

PRINCETON — On the morning of Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, Princeton Police Officer Dominic Esposito responded alone to a domestic disturbance on Mason Lane, the Princeton Police Department announced in a statement.

“Upon arrival, the involved individual—who was initially reported to be armed with a knife—came out of the residence toward the officer with a shovel,” the Princeton Police Department said in its statement.

Westminster police arrived on scene shortly afterward to assist.

“Tasers were deployed during the encounter, and the individual was ultimately brought under control and transported to the hospital for evaluation,” the Princeton Police Department said. “Officer Esposito sustained minor injuries during the incident, but remains on duty.”

The Princeton Police Department thanked assisting agencies, including Westminster and Sterling police, for their quick response and coordination during the incident.
