PRINCETON — A skier died after crashing into a tree on Wachusett Mountain Monday morning.
The skier, a 67-year-old man from Shrewsbury, was on the Oxbow Chute – an expert trail – when he crashed into a tree at about 9:25 a.m.
State police say the man was found unresponsive by a skier who happened to pass him following the crash, NBC Boston reports.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
Ski patrol responded to the scene and gave the man CPR as they headed down the mountain, but when he arrived at an area hospital, he was pronounced dead.
The man’s name has not yet been released because police are in the process of informing the victim’s next of kin.
