BARRE — At approximately 4:24 a.m. this morning, Barre police and fire personnel responded to a serious single-vehicle accident on Route 62 (Hubbardston Road) in the area of Cummings Road.
According to a statement from the Barre Police Department, when first responders arrived on scene, they determined the vehicle had three occupants. One of the occupants was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and two passed away as a result of the collision.
The identities of the deceased have not been released, but police said both were 21 years old, according to WCVB.com.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation involving the Barre Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police,” the Barre Police Department said in its statement. “Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident.”
