Reported threat against Leominster High School leads to juvenile’s arrest

LEOMINSTER — On Friday, May 22, 2026, the Leominster received a report that a threat was made against Leominster High School.

According to Leominster Police Chief Ryan D. Malatos, members of the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigative Bureau, several off-duty officers, police command staff, and Leominster Fire Department personnel responded to the school to ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors.

Chief Malatos said that, as a result of the collaborative efforts between the Leominster Police Department and Leominster Public Schools, Leominster High School was placed in “HOLD status” to maintain a safe and secure environment while the investigation was conducted.

“Through the efficient and coordinated efforts of the Leominster Police Department, Leominster Public Schools, and assistance from the Fitchburg Police Department, an arrest was made that successfully mitigated the threat,” Chief Malatos said.

The arrest was made off-site, and the suspect did not go to the school.

“Following the arrest, the school was able to resume normal operations; however, increased police presence remained throughout the district to ensure the safety of all schools,” Chief Malatos said.

Chief Malatos said no further information will be released at this time because the individual who was arrested is a juvenile.
