Woman arrested, trespassed from Leominster Hospital for assaulting security guard after she was denied methadone prescription

LEOMINSTER โ€” On Sunday, May 17, 2026, Leominster Police Officers Robert Connors, Tyler LaBell, and Noah DeCesare were dispatched to Leominster Hospital at 60 Hospital Road following a report that a woman was being assaultive towards security staff and refusing to leave the emergency room.

โ€œUpon my arrival, I observed a female party, identified as Brittany Singleton, outside of the emergency room lobby entrance,โ€ Officer Connors said. โ€œI also observed two security guards, identified as Van [last name redacted] and Marc [last name redacted], standing with Brittany.โ€

According to police, Brittany E. Singleton, 37, is homeless in Leominster, MA.

โ€œWhen I arrived, Brittany began to shout that she needed to talk to me. I informed Brittany that I would speak with her momentarily and went to speak with Van and Marc,โ€ Officer Connors said. โ€œBrittany continued to shout over the security guards to get me to talk to her first. Based on Brittany’s overall demeanor and the way she was slurring her words, I formed the opinion that Brittany was under the influence of either intoxicating liquor or drugs.โ€

Officer Connors said Officers LaBell and DeCesare arrived at that time and stood with Singleton. He said he was then able to speak with Van and Marc.

โ€œVan stated that Brittany had been trying to get methadone from the hospital, and the hospital was not going to prescribe it to her,โ€ Officer Connors said. โ€œVan stated that Brittany did not like this answer and began to shout at nurses in the emergency room treatment area. At this time, Van stated that security stepped in and informed Brittany she needed to leave. Van stated that Brittany then called him a [N-word] and refused to leave.โ€

Van told Officer Connors that he and Marc then physically escorted Singleton from the treatment area, at which point Singleton began to struggle with them.

โ€œMarc stated that during this struggle, Brittany kicked him in the leg,โ€ Officer Connors said. โ€œMarc was unable to tell me if Brittany was wearing shoes at the time of the kick, as he stated that her shoe kept falling off and she kept putting it back on during the struggle. Van and Marc stated that they wished to trespass Brittany from the Leominster Hospital emergency room indefinitely unless she needed emergency care.โ€

Officer Connors said that while he was speaking with Van and Marc, Singleton continued to yell at the officers on scene.

โ€œI then went to speak with Brittany to see if she could have someone come and pick her up and inform her of the trespass. Brittany screamed at me when I informed her of the trespass and refused to call someone to come and pick her up,โ€ Officer Connors said. โ€œBrittany screamed that she โ€˜sh*t herself’ and โ€˜called the security guard a [N-word]โ€™ before screaming more at the security guards that they couldn’t trespass her.โ€

During that time, Officer Connors said multiple people were entering the hospital emergency room entrance, and several others had stopped to watch the interaction.

โ€œAt this time, due to Brittany screaming at the security guards and refusing to leave, I formed the opinion that she was creating a tumultuous circumstance that served no legitimate purpose,โ€ Officer Connors said. โ€œI informed Brittany that she was being placed under arrest for disorderly conduct, and placed Brittany into my department approved handcuffs (which I checked for tightness and double locked).โ€

Officer LaBell then transported Singleton to the Leominster Police Station for booking.

Brittany E. Singleton, 37, of Leominster, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Disorderly Conduct, Subsequent Offense
  • Assault & Battery

Officer Connors said that Singletonโ€™s trespass notice was also entered into the departmentโ€™s records system.

Singleton was arraigned in Leominster District Court on May 18, 2026. Following her arraignment, Singleton was released on personal recognizance under the condition that she not abuse the alleged victim(s). Her next court date was a pretrial conference hearing scheduled for June 15, 2026.
