Canton man arrested for grabbing sleeping woman through window after contacting her online

CANTON — On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at approximately 2:10 a.m., Canton police responded to a home on Pond View Road following a report that an individual opened a bedroom window from outside, called the victim by name, and fled.

According to Canton Police Chief Michael Daniels, during the preliminary investigation, police learned that a 21-year-old woman was asleep when her ankle was grabbed through an open window. The woman kicked at the suspect and then ran from the room.

Canton police subsequently learned that Helohim Nedvaldo Francilme, 21, of Canton, had contacted the victim on social media about an hour before the incident.

“Officers responded to Francilme’s residence and developed probable cause to arrest him,” Chief Daniels said.

Helohim Nedvaldo Francilme, 21, of Canton, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Breaking & Entering a Building During the Nighttime with Intent to Commit a Felony
  • Assault & Battery

“I’d like to acknowledge and commend the officers who responded to this incident for their professionalism, compassion toward the victim, and thorough investigative work,” Chief ​Daniels said. “Their coordinated response and attention to detail led to the rapid development of investigative leads while ensuring the victim and her family received support during this traumatic event.”
