Juvenile arrested on attempted murder charge following Canton apartment shooting

CANTON — Canton police have arrested a 16-year-old juvenile male in connection with a shooting that took place last night at the Lamplighter Village apartment complex that left a woman in her 20s seriously injured.

According to a statement from Canton’s Interim Police Chief Joseph Perkins, police and firefighters responded to the apartment complex on the evening of Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, after receiving reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, first responders located the victim who had been shot while in the driver’s seat of her vehicle with a passenger, who was uninjured. She was treated at the scene and transported to a Boston hospital, where she remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

At approximately 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, Canton police, assisted by the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council SWAT team, executed a search warrant at a Canton residence, where the juvenile was taken into custody without incident.

The 16-year-old juvenile has been charged with attempted murder.

“I am pleased to report that thanks to the diligent police work of the Canton Police Department and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, we have made an arrest within 12 hours of the initial incident,” Perkins said. He also thanked residents for their cooperation during the investigation, including compliance with shelter-in-place requests.

Police said no additional information is being released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
