PLYMOUTH — On Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Plymouth police responded to a Royal Street residence following a report of a disturbance involving a firearm.
According to Captain of Police Operations Marc Higgins, initial reports indicated that a man had assaulted another resident, discharged a firearm inside the home, and fled into the surrounding woods.
When officers arrived on scene, they secured the residence, confirmed that the suspect was no longer inside, and determined that no one had been injured.
Police then established a perimeter around the area where they believed the suspect had fled.
With assistance from the Metro-LEC SWAT team, police located the suspect in the woods a short time later and took him into custody without further incident.
The suspect, identified as a 54-year-old Plymouth resident, was expected to be arraigned later Wednesday in Plymouth District Court.
The incident remains under investigation by the Plymouth Police Department.
