Four Randolph residents displaced after bathroom exhaust fan fire spreads into attic

RANDOLPH — On Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, at approximately 9:54 a.m., the Randolph Fire Department responded to a multifamily home at 18 Country Club Drive following a report of a fire.

According to the Randolph Fire Chief Paul Frew, a resident called 911 to report the fire after being alerted by an activated smoke alarm.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they observed smoke coming from the roofline outside the home. Crews advanced a hose line to the second floor and found the fire confined to the ceiling of a second-floor bathroom, with extension into the attic.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, Chief Frew said.

The four residents of the home made it out safely. No injuries were reported, but all four residents were displaced by the fire.

A preliminary investigation determined that a small fire began in an exhaust fan in the bathroom.

The Holbrook and Avon fire departments provided mutual aid at the scene. The Braintree, Milton, and Stoughton fire departments provided station coverage.

“In this case, the home’s smoke detectors did the job and helped our firefighters save lives,” Chief Frew said. “This could have been a very different situation if the residents didn’t get fair warning from their smoke detection system. I’d like to remind all residents to check their smoke alarms regularly to ensure they are fully functioning. Smoke detectors help us save lives.”
