Three hospitalized after crash involving dump truck, two SUVs in Lancaster

LANCASTER — On Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, at approximately 11:51 a.m., Lancaster Fire-EMS and Lancaster police responded to a three-vehicle crash in the area of 1539 North Main Street (Route 117).

According to Lancaster Fire-EMS Chief Jon Belanger, initial reports indicated multiple injuries and a possible fatality in the crash, which involved a commercial dump truck and two SUVs.

Three people were transported to the hospital from the scene. One person was taken to UMass University Campus in Worcester with serious injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. The two other individuals were transported to UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Hospital’s Leominster Campus. Chief Belanger did not provide details about their conditions.

A portion of Route 117 was closed for a few hours while emergency crews worked at the scene and the roadway was cleaned up. The road has since reopened.

Chief Belanger said the department’s on-duty ambulance crew had been dispatched to another medical emergency just minutes before the crash, leaving limited resources available.

Mutual aid was provided by Sterling Fire-EMS as well as the Bolton and Clinton fire departments.

“Situations like this are exactly why our mutual aid partnerships are so important,” Chief Belanger said. “We are fortunate to have neighboring departments that are always willing to step up and help when needed.”

The chief also recognized dispatchers at the Nashoba Valley Regional Dispatch District for handling multiple 911 calls and coordinating fire, EMS and police resources from several communities during the incident.

The crash remains under investigation by Lancaster police and Massachusetts State Police.
