LANCASTER — State authorities are investigating the death of an individual incarcerated at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Lancaster, which occurred on Wednesday, according to officials.
Scott Croteau, spokesperson for the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, confirmed that the Massachusetts Department of Corrections is leading the investigation.
Details about the deceased individual, including their identity and the circumstances of their death, have not been released. This incident follows an incident on Sept. 18, when several inmates attacked corrections officers, stabbing two and injuring three others.
