LEXINGTON — On Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, the 31st annual GenesisHR Battlegreen Run raised an estimated $125,000 for nonprofits.
According to the Battlegreen Run Foundation, more than 1,200 runners and walkers signed up to participate this year and the proceeds brought the organization’s total charitable giving to more than $1.5 million since the foundation began operations in 1996.
Battlegreen Run Foundation is a nonprofit that organizes Lexington’s annual Battlegreen Run and donates the proceeds to nonprofit organizations dedicated to education, rare diseases, community service, historical preservation, accessibility and improving the lives of people throughout Lexington and beyond, the organization said in a statement.
This year’s event started at Lexington High School and featured 5K and 10K runs and 2K and 5K walks. Volunteers served a post-race meal with food donated by local businesses, including more than 30 restaurants.
Jovan Sematimba won the 10K in 33 minutes, 36 seconds, and Grady Satterfield won the 5K in 14 minutes, 50 seconds. Diamond Middle School and Running for Innocence won the 10K and 5K team titles, respectively.

“We spend the entire year planning for this one morning, and then suddenly it’s here. You look around and see hundreds of people running, walking, cheering, volunteering and supporting causes they believe in. It’s an incredible feeling,” said Battlegreen Run Foundation President Stephen Sartori. “Race day always reminds me of why we do this. It’s not just about supporting our nonprofits — though that is our core mission and purpose — but also about giving those organizations an opportunity to connect with the community and enhance their impact. Every registration, every sponsorship and every donation makes a difference, but seeing the community come together is what really brings our mission to life.”
The 32nd annual Battlegreen Run is scheduled for Nov. 7, 2027.
