GARDNER — On Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., Gardner police responded to 53 Waterford Street following a report that a man was making violent threats and might be armed.
According to Gardner Police Sergeant Ryan Coates, when officers arrived on scene, they found David Margeson, 42, locked inside his apartment.
“Margeson barricaded himself in his apartment and continued to make threats of violence against officers,” Sergeant Coates said. “All attempts to de-escalate the situation were attempted by officers — including assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Crisis Negotiation Team.”
Margeson surrendered peacefully around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, roughly seven hours after officers responded.
Margeson was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
