LEOMINSTER — The city of Leominster is expected to open its first marijuana dispensary this fall.
According to the Leominster Champion, a marijuana dispensary company, Revolutionary Clinics, is in the process of building a dispensary at 130 Pioneer Drive. Pioneer Drive is near the Orchard Hill Park shopping plaza that abuts Lancaster.
Keith Cooper, the chief executive officer at Revolutionary Clinics, told the Leominster Champion that a concrete pad has been poured at 130 Pioneer Drive while the dispensary itself is being constructed in Pennsylvania because it’s cheaper to do it that way. Once complete, the dispensary is going to be transported on a truck and placed upon the concrete pad. This is expected to take plan on July 12.
After all the wiring, plumbing and security systems are fully operational, the dispensary will be ready for a grand opening.
The dispensary is expected to open this October.
According to a PowerPoint presentation on Revolutionary Clinic’s website, the 2,336-square-foot, dispensary will be “designed like an Apple Store meets Johnny Appleseed level clean energy.” Like other dispensaries in the area, it will have a one-way entrance and exit around the store. There will also be more than 30 parking spaces.
The Leominster dispensary is Revolutionary Clinic’s first foray into North Central Massachusetts. The company currently has two locations in Cambridge and one in Somerville.
Although this is the first dispensary to come to Leominster, the city is no stranger to the marijuana industry. There are presently a couple marijuana manufacturing facilities in the city, including Middlesex Integrative Medicine located at 25 Mohawk Drive and The Botanist, an edible manufacturer located at 1775 Lock Drive.
