WORCESTER — Shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday, State Troopers were dispatched from the Holden Barracks after a 911 caller reported that a person had been hit by a car on I-290 westbound near Exit 20.
According to a release from the Massachusetts State Police, when troopers arrived on scene, they found a deceased 27-year-old Worcester man, whom they determined had been struck by multiple vehicles.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim had been struck by an unknown vehicle, possibly a tractor trailer,” the release said. “Evidence indicates that he was subsequently struck by other vehicles. None of the vehicles stopped. It is unclear if any of the operators knew they had struck a person.”
The hit-and-run, as well as the reason why the man was on I-290, are under investigation.
