Two arrested on cocaine possession, distribution charges after Worcester traffic stop

WORCESTER — On Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, Worcester police officers stopped a vehicle with canceled plates on Harrison Street.

According to the Worcester Police Department, officers instructed the driver and his passenger to exit the vehicle.

In plain view on the driver’s side floorboard, police observed a knotted, plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

Police then searched the passenger, later identified as 34-year-old Abdulkarim Mbarushimana of Worcester, and discovered five more knotted, plastic baggies of suspected cocaine on his person.

Abdulkarim Mbarushimana, 34, of Worcester, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possess with Intent to Distribute Class B Drug

The driver, whose name was not released by the Worcester Police Department, was also arrested and charged with possession of a Class B substance and several motor vehicle offenses.
