WORCESTER – Things got saucy on I-290 this morning, but not in a fun, cheeky way.
According to a Tweet from WBZ Traffic posted at about 8:48 a.m., a tractor trailer carrying tomato sauce overturned where I-290 west meets I-190.
The tractor trailer blocked the right and center lanes, causing a traffic jam of cars approaching the scene that went all the way back to Main Street in Shrewsbury. The on-ramp from Burncoat Street was also closed.
The scene was cleared by around 1 p.m., although WBZ Traffic reports that even though all lanes are now open, there are still heavy residual delays.
