Live wires fall on tractor trailer in accident that snapped telephone pole on Willard Street
LEOMINSTER — Part of Willard Street was closed to traffic Monday after a tractor trailer crashed into a telephone pole.
At about 1:30 p.m., the tractor trailer, which was hauling a large piece of logging equipment, hit the telephone pole, splitting it. The pole – as well as live wires – fell onto the truck.
The Leominster Fire Department, Leominster Police Department and National Grid responded to the scene.
As of 3 p.m., officials say the area around 650 Willard Street where the accident took place will be closed “for an extended period of time.”
