GARDNER – A 43-year-old man was seriously injured after he was stabbed in the chest Wednesday morning at the Planet Fitness on Victoria Street.
Officials say that the attack – which is believed to be random in nature – took place at around 10:20 a.m.
Police identified a car that left the scene and later located it on Route 2 in Leominster near I-190.
The suspect and driver of the vehicle, Nunez Lennox, 19, of Revere, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. An “edged weapon” was allegedly found inside Lennox’s vehicle, according to NBCBoston.com.
The victim was transported to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester via life flight.
Lennox was arraigned Wednesday in Gardner District Court.
