Lancaster – Police diverted traffic off Route 70 onto Old Lunenburg Road Tuesday afternoon after a pickup truck heading southbound crashed into the tree line about 20 feet from where the two roads intersect.
At 3:03 p.m., three police SUVs and two ambulances surrounded the Ford F-150 STX and blocked Route 70 as cars looped around the accident scene onto OId Lunenburg Road, which is a very short U-shaped road that connects to Mountain Laurel Lane on Fort Pond and then back onto Route 70.
The truck’s deployed airbags filled the entirety of its cabin and the driver’s side door was torn off as was some of the front driver-side paneling.
According to Officer Andrew Shaw of the Lancaster Police Department, who was on scene, the driver of the vehicle was not injured and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The driver was also not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
