BOLTON — A tractor trailer crashed into the median of Interstate 495 near Exit 70 in Bolton Tuesday morning.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation reported the accident at about 9:14 a.m. on Twitter.
Initially, only the northbound lanes were closed. Both north and southbound lanes were subsequently closed for about a half hour to make room for a medical helicopter. Motorists were told to seek an alternative route at that time. The total closure of the lanes created a traffic backup for miles in both directions.
At about 10 a.m., MassDOT said the southbound lanes were reopened. The northbound lanes are still closed.
The identity of the individual injured in the crash has not been released.
