Victim of house fire in Orange identified

ORANGE — The woman who died in the Dec. 13 house fire in a dog breeder’s home at 99 West River Street has been identified.

According to the state Department of Fire Services, Debra Marini, 65, was the “elderly” woman found unresponsive in the enflamed residence, who succumbed to her injuries the morning after the residential blaze, which was first reported just before midnight on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Marini was transported to the hospital along with another resident found injured outside the home when first responders arrived on scene. The other resident – whose name has not been released – is still in the hospital, but expected to survive.

Two other individuals who were in the residence when the fire began escaped unharmed.

A GoFundMe with the goal of raising $100,000 was started by Maryanne Mack on behalf of Penny Allen to help the residents of the West River Street home as well as their Boston Terriers. So far, they have raised $65,347.
