LEOMINSTER —On Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at approximately 11:33 p.m., while patrolling Mechanic Street, Officer Mackenson Adescar of the Leominster Police Department noticed an Audi A6 driving eastward on the same street with a non-functioning headlight.

“After the Audi passed me, I turned around, activated my emergency blue lights, and performed a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Mechanic Street and Whitney Street,” Officer Adescar said. “When I approached the Audi, I recognized the operator, Pedro Henrique Silva Santos, from a previous arrest two nights ago.”
On Dec. 31, 2024, Leominster police arrested Santos on a warrant for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and for driving with a missing number plate (the latter is a civil infraction).
Pedro Henrique Silva Santos, 20, is a resident of Central Street in Leominster. According to court documents, he was born in Brazil, he’s single, and he works as a carpenter.

“I asked Pedro for his driver’s license and registration. Pedro said he had a vehicle registration but did not have a valid driver’s license. Pedro handed me his Brazilian passport,” Officer Adescar said. Later adding, “Dispatch confirmed Pedro had no driver’s license status in Massachusetts.”
Officer Adescar asked Santos to exit the vehicle and informed him that he was under arrest for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
“I gave Pedro the option to let one of the passengers drive the car if one of them had a valid driver’s license; however, none of them did,” Officer Adescar said. “I requested a tow to remove the Audi due to the traffic hazard it posed (less than 10 feet unobstructed lane).”
Santos was arrested without incident and transported to the Leominster Police Department for booking.
Santos was formally charged with the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and motor vehicle lights violation (the latter is a civil infraction/violation not a misdemeanor).
His bail was set at $340.
On Oct. 31, 2023, Santos was arrested by Leominster police for operating a motor vehicle without a license and for having a missing plate on the vehicle.
Judge Mark E. Noonan issued a default warrant for Santos after he failed to appear for his arraignment in Leominster District Court on Nov. 1, 2023. Leominster police arrested Santos on the warrant two days before his Jan. 1, 2024, arrest on Dec. 31, 2024.
The default warrant was cancelled when Santos was arraigned on Jan. 2, 2024, for his Jan. 1, 2024, arrest.
Following his arraignment on Jan. 2, 2024, Santos was released on his own personal recognizance.
Santos is scheduled to appear in Leominster District Court again for a pretrial hearing on March 19, 2024.
