Westminster’s 2023 payroll archive: see the town’s top earners

During fiscal year 2023, the top 10 salaries in the Town of Westminster were predominantly occupied by police and fire department personnel.

Police Sergeant Nathan Hawkins led the pack with earnings of $164,800, of which $47,151 was for overtime, marking an increase from his previous year’s earnings of $147,471 with an additional $32,606 in overtime, The Gardner News reported. Sgt. Nicholas Auffrey was the second highest earner with a total compensation of $155,059, including $36,602 in overtime, up from his fiscal year 2022 earnings of $146,480 plus $32,535 in overtime. Last year, Auffrey was the highest paid employee in the town.

Fire Lieutenant David Monty was third on the list, earning $138,419, which included $58,322 in overtime pay. Meanwhile, Police Lieutenant Jason Tamulen received $136,948, while Joshua Hall, the Director of Public Works and the top non-public safety official on the list, earned $130,876, an increase from the previous fiscal year when he earned $128,965.

Sgt. Amy Nelson, the highest paid female employee, received $129,472, with $21,660 of that being overtime, this is an increase from last year, when she earned $126,230 and $20,429 in overtime.

Officer Patrick Popora was the seventh highest earner. This year Popora raked in $125,538, including $31,230 in overtime.

Fire Chief Kyle Butterfield’s salary was $124,772, and Officer Jason Wetherbee earned $122,269, with $28,729 allocated for overtime.

Completing the list, Fire Capt. Adam Bean earned $108,467, securing his spot among the top 10 earners.

The total earnings of all 207 individuals employed by the Town of Westminster for fiscal year 2023 was $6,815,951.
