WESTMINSTER — Michael Sheehan, a former Westminster firefighter, has been sentenced to two years in the Worcester County House of Correction after pleading guilty on January 24 to seven charges, including indecent exposure. The charges against Sheehan were two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, two counts of assault and battery, two counts of providing liquor to minors, and one count of indecent exposure.
According to The Gardner News, the incidents that led to the indecent exposure, assault and battery and indecent assault charges took place on October 31, 2022, while the events involving providing alcohol to minors occurred on January 1 and January 12, 2024.
The court’s decision requires Sheehan to serve one year of the sentence in jail, with the remaining year suspended provided he successfully completes a two-year period of supervised probation. Sheehan was also ordered to undergo sex offender counseling, register with the Sex Offender Registry Board, and refrain from unsupervised contact with minors. He was also ordered to not contact and stay away from his victims.
Sheehan joined the Westminster Fire Department as a full-time firefighter on January 25, 2023, after volunteering with the department for 10 years. Fire Chief Kyle Butterfield told The Gardner News that Sheehan resigned on March 14, 2024, citing personal reasons.
