FITCHBURG — The Worcester District Attorney’s Office announced that a Fitchburg man has been charged with murder, while two others face assault and battery charges in connection with the stabbing death of 20-year-old Robert Wright-Day in Leominster last Tuesday.
Juan Diaz Contreras, 19, was taken into custody without incident at his Fitchburg home on Thursday night after police obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Edgar K. Perez-Tuero, 21, of Gardner, and Christian Joel Santiago, 19, of Leominster, were also arrested on warrants and charged with assault and battery in connection with Wright-Day’s death.

Just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, police responded to the Riverside Village Apartment complex – located at 24 State Street – where Wright-Day was found suffering from a stab wound.
He was transported to Leominster Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
According to WCVB, witnesses reported that the stabbing occurred on a basketball court near the apartment complex.
All three men who were arrested in connection with Wright-Day’s death are scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Fitchburg District Court.
The investigation into this case is being conducted by several agencies, including the Leominster Police Department, the Fitchburg Police Department, State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services, and Massachusetts State Police Forensic Scientists.
