CONCORD — At around 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a three-vehicle accident on Route 2 eastbound in Concord, which resulted in the death of a Medford man.
The initial investigation by state police determined that a 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by 70-year-old Steven Marchand, rear-ended a second vehicle, which then collided with a third.
Marchand was transported to a hospital and pronounced deceased. The 26-year-old driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital, while the third vehicle’s driver was uninjured.
The left lane of Route 2 eastbound was closed for nearly two hours. The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police, with assistance from Concord police, fire and EMS, as well as MassDOT.
