Crash involving car, MBTA Fitchburg Commuter Rail train closes section of Sudbury Road in Concord

CONCORD — A car and an MBTA Fitchburg Commuter Rail train collided at the Sudbury Road railroad crossing at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026.

Following the collision, the train remained stopped while passengers disembarked.

The Concord Police Department closed Sudbury Road between Grant Street and Thoreau Street while emergency crews responded to the crash.

Information about possible injuries, damage or when the road and railroad tracks would reopen was not immediately available.
