FITCHBURG — A tow company righted a vehicle after a rollover accident on Mount Vernon Street Tuesday afternoon.
The car had two occupants; one fled the scene before emergency crews arrived, the Sentinel & Enterprise reported.
The remaining occupant refused medical treatment and received a citation.
No other vehicles were involved.
Multiple police agencies are still investigating the accident at a four-way intersection on the Fitchburg-Leominster line, that claimed the man’s life Friday night.
The Worcester County District Attorney, Joseph Early, joined local officials to present the award to the officer, who works as the school resource officer at Longsjo Middle School.
Fitchburg Fire Chief Dante Suarez has been placed on paid leave pending an external investigation, with Assistant Chief Patrick Haverty appointed to serve as acting chief.
