Taunton man who passed away after fall from construction site at Emerson College ID’d as Barry Medeiros

TAUNTON — A Taunton man who fell to his death at a construction site in downtown Boston on Friday afternoon has been identified by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office as 43-year-old Barry Medeiros.

At around 12:45 p.m. on Friday, Medeiros fell to his death from the scaffolding of a construction site at 219 Tremont Street, the location of Emerson College’s Cutler Majestic Theater.

According to his obituary, Medeiros was a seasoned Union Journeyman who had worked on several of Boston’s most iconic sites, including Fenway Park and Boston University. Barry – who is being remembered for his wisdom and wit – was deeply passionate about his work, taking immense pride in contributing to the city’s historic landmarks.

“He was well-liked and respected by his colleagues and always will be remembered for his kindness to others and always getting the job done,” his obituary said. “He enjoyed exploring different areas of philosophy and sharing his findings with anyone willing to listen. Barry will be remembered for his wisdom, sense of humor, big heart, his kind soul, but most of all, the love he had for his children and family.”

Barry’s family has launched a GoFundMe page to support his two children’s college education.

Funeral services for Barry Medeiros are set for Friday, August 16, 2024, at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony Church in Taunton. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Silva Funeral Home in Taunton.

The incident at the Emerson College construction site is currently under investigation.
