Burlington woman arrested for DUI during saturation patrol in Bedford

BEDFORD — Bedford Police arrested a Burlington woman for operating under the influence during an impaired driving saturation patrol that took place last Saturday, Bedford’s Police Chief John Fisher announced in a statement.

According to the CDC, “saturation patrols” involve a concentrated police presence in a specific area, typically during times and at locations where alcohol-impaired driving is known to occur.

Chief Fisher reported that during the saturation patrol on Saturday, Aug. 17, Bedford police officers stopped a vehicle on Burlington Road near Route 3. The driver, later identified as 32-year-old Stephanie Tea of Burlington, exhibited signs of impairment.

“After an initial field investigation, Tea was placed under arrest without incident,” Chief Fisher said in the statement.

Tea was charged with:

  • Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • Speeding
  • Use of an Electronic Device
  • Open Container of Alcohol

Tea was arraigned in Concord District Court on Monday, Aug. 19.

Bedford Police made 25 vehicle stops for various violations during the patrols. According to Chief Fisher, most of these stops were brief, and drivers were released from the scene with warnings.
