BOSTON — Two construction workers were seriously injured after they were struck by a drunk driver on the MassPike (I-90) early Saturday morning.
According to State Police Spokesperson Timothy McGuirk, Pedro Campos, 32, faces charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation in connection with the crash.
State police reported that Campos was driving a Nissan Pathfinder westbound on Interstate 90 near the Beacon Street overpass in Boston at approximately 2:30 a.m. when the incident occurred. At the time, the center and right lanes were closed for construction, leaving only the left lane open for traffic.
Campos allegedly entered the work zone and crashed into an elevated scissor lift, which had two workers on board. The workers sustained serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and Campos is set to be arraigned at the Brighton division of Boston Municipal Court on Monday.
