Man fatally shot in public parking lot in Plymouth, suspect in custody

PLYMOUTH – At approximately 5:45 p.m. today, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Communications Center began receiving multiple reports of a shooting in a public parking lot on Middle Street. Callers reported a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to a statement from Plymouth’s Chief of Police Dana Flynn, the first officer to arrive on scene confronted the suspect and took him into custody without incident.

The victim, a 41-year-old man, was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital—Plymouth. He was pronounced dead at 6:28 p.m.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the victim or the suspect, pending notification of the victim’s next of kin.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
