LEOMINSTER – A gas truck accident that occurred at the intersection of Legate Hill Road and Central Street has caused significant traffic disruptions in the area. The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. today, and emergency responders are currently on the scene.
According to an eyewitness, Domenic Ciccone, traffic is being diverted onto Willard Street through Jytek Park as a result of the accident. Ciccone, who was nearby when the accident occurred, described the situation as involving a gas truck that appeared to be making a turn onto Legate Hill Road when it was struck by another vehicle traveling southbound on Route 12.
The intersection in question includes a 120-degree turn, which likely contributed to the complexity of the situation. Ciccone reported that Route 12 has been blocked off from the entrance of the trailer park on Willard Street, and the traffic backup is extensive, stretching beyond visible limits from his vantage point.
As of 11:02 a.m., Ciccone said that Route 12 has reopened, with cars now moving through, but traffic remains backed up on Willard Street.
