LEOMINSTER — A Fitchburg man arrested following a disturbance at a Leominster Verizon store in November says he was attempting to resolve ongoing phone issues tied to his small business and denies threatening any employee or resisting arrest.
In an email titled “I am the Verizon guy” sent to News Link Live after publication of a story about the incident, Nicholas DeMeulle, 40, said he went to the Verizon store at 975 Merriam Avenue on Nov. 19, 2025, because his newly purchased $1,200 iPhone17 Pro was not ringing, which caused him to miss business calls during peak fall cleanup season. DeMeulle said he was also having problems with the phone’s volume.
“I run a small landscaping company,” DeMeulle said. “I was missing calls. This is fall cleanup season, so it’s kind of important to be getting these calls.”

DeMeulle said he initially had the ringing and volume issues resolved in-store by a manager, but a short time later, he had trouble receiving calls again, which prompted him to contact Verizon customer service and ultimately visit the store again.
“Customers were telling me my phone just kept going to voicemail, so I was a little upset because I’m missing these calls,” DeMeulle said. “So, I called Verizon and talked to Jacob and all I said was, ‘You motherf*ckers need to fix my phone.'”
According to DeMeulle, he went to the store at the direction of a Verizon employee, waited inside for approximately 25 to 30 minutes, and didn’t behave aggressively.
“I walked in. I didn’t threaten anybody,” DeMeulle wrote. Later adding, “I said okay, I’ll wait my turn. I sat down.”
He further denied charging at or threatening Jacob, the Verizon employee.
“I never charged at this gentleman,” DeMeulle said. “I never touched the gentleman. I never threatened the gentleman and then they got me for disturbing the peace and it was just an arrest.”
DeMeulle said police arrived unexpectedly and escorted him outside without explaining why.
“I didn’t know what was going on,” he wrote. Adding that they kept asking for his license, and he wanted to know why.
DeMeulle said he began recording on his phone after confirming officers were recording and was told he was trespassed and needed to leave.
“I said okay. I started leaving and the female officer tackled me to the ground,” DeMeulle wrote.
DeMeulle alleged he suffered injuries during the arrest, including cuts, a black eye, a concussion, and a lump on his head. He denied resisting arrest and said audio recordings and store surveillance footage would support his account. (Note: News Link Live did not obtain audio or video recordings in a comprehensive FOIA of the incident and the video DeMeulle sent to News Link Live via email could not be accessed.)
“I kept asking her to stop hurting me,” DeMeulle wrote. “They kept saying I was resisting, but I was telling them to just let them handcuff me.”
DeMeulle added that he should never have been charged with resisting arrest.
“I understand disturbing the piece because maybe, we were arguing, but the resisting arrest, that was untruthful like they didn’t even say I was getting arrested or anything, they just threw me to the ground,” DeMeulle said.
Police account of the incident
According to the printed personnel narrative of the incident authored by Officer Tiffany Beaupre of the Leominster Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Verizon store on Merriam Avenue at approximately 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, following a report of a disturbance.
Police said a Verizon employee identified as Jacob [last name redacted] reported that DeMeulle had been “very threatening” during a phone call and later ran toward him upon entering the store, cutting the line of customers and yelling.
Jacob told police he felt “unsafe” and went into a back room to call 911. He later requested that DeMeulle be trespassed from the store for one year, according to the report.
Police said that outside the store, DeMeulle declined to provide identification, became increasingly agitated, and continued yelling as pedestrians stopped to watch the interaction. Officers reported that DeMeulle attempted to leave after being informed he was being detained.
According to police, when officers attempted to take control of DeMeulle’s arms, he resisted by pulling away and flailing, causing all parties to fall to the ground. Officers said he continued to resist until a taser warning was issued.
Police also reported that DeMeulle stated he had been drinking that evening and claimed he walked to the store, which officers said was contradicted when his girlfriend later arrived at the station requesting car keys.
