Driver injured after car collides with CSX freight train in Leominster

LEOMINSTER — On Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at approximately 6:57 p.m., Leominster police and firefighters were dispatched to the Marguerite Avenue train crossing intersection following a report of a collision between a motor vehicle and a CSX freight train.

Leominster’s Acting Police Chief Ryan Malatos said in a statement that upon arrival, officers secured the scene as firefighters used extraction tools to free the driver from the vehicle. The driver was then transported to a local UMass Memorial hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.

  1. Lots of comments on social media…and lot of traffic news….. Further down that road has a dramatic elevation change.. But it is straight and flat in that area.. Hope they are OK.
