SHREWSBURY โ According to Shrewsbury police, on Monday, October 21st, 2024, a man, later identified as Trevor Maguire, stole three cans of โFalcon Duster Sprayโ from the Market Basket on 200 Hartford Turnpike, bypassed all points of sale with the merchandise, valued at $14.31, then went into the bathroom at the Market Basket and inhaled it.

According to police, Trevor J. Maguire, 34, is a resident of 234 Central Street, Newton, MA.
โFurthermore, officers on scene observed the defendant in the bathroom of Market Basket where he was hunched over on the ground, purposefully and intentionally inhaling cleaning solution,โ the Shrewsbury Police Department wrote in its Statement of Facts for this incident.
After he was found in the bathroom, Maguire was taken into custody by police. Worcester EMS was called to the scene to evaluate him, but he declined medical treatment upon their arrival.
Maguire was then transported to Shrewsbury Police Department, where he was booked on the following charges:
- Shoplifting by Asportation
- Glue/Toxic Substance, Inhale
Maguire was arraigned in Westborough District Court on Oct. 22, 2024, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. The judge reclassified the charges as civil infractions instead of criminal offenses and subsequently found Maguire responsible. The case was then filed as a civil matter.
