SHREWSBURY — On Thursday, November 14, 2024, Officer Ahmed Kafel of the Shrewsbury Police Department was dispatched to 42 Liberty Drive following a report of a possible domestic incident.

“The victim, known to the Commonwealth, stated that Joshua Franceschi physically assaulted them without consent at their residence,” Officer Kafel said.
According to police, Joshua Franceschi, 25, is a resident of 620 Haverhill Street, Apt. 1, Lawrence, MA.

“Joshua Franceschi physically assaulted the victim, his girlfriend, by smacking her in the face,” Officer Kafel said. “The victim then attempted to call her brother via her cellphone but before she could do so, Joshua Franceschi physically took her phone and smashed it, resulting in her not being able to call for help. During the altercation, Joshua Franceschi physically broke the victim’s bedroom door to gain entry.”
Franceschi was charged with the following:
- Assault and Battery, Intimate Partner
- Witness Intimidation
- Destruction of Property +$1,200, Malicious (two counts)
Franceschi was arraigned in Westborough District Court on Nov. 15, 2024. Following his arraignment, Franceschi was released on his own personal recognizance under the condition that he stay away from/not contact the victim.
Franceschi’s next court date is a pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 23, 2025.
