LEOMINSTER — At approximately 6:07 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, units from the Leominster police and fire departments were dispatched to the area of Market Basket on Sack Boulevard following a report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.
When first responders arrived on scene, they located a juvenile victim that had been struck by a 2018 white Chevrolet Silverado which was registered in the state of Maine. The juvenile was transported to Leominster Hospital with critical injuries where he/she was pronounced deceased a short time later, Leominster’s Police Chief Ryan Malatos said in a statement.
“The Leominster Police Department extends their sincere condolences to all who are impacted by this tragic event,” Chief Malatos said.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, as did several witnesses.
The investigation is being conducted by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit, and the Leominster Police Department.
