LANCASTER — On Thursday, January 30, 2025, the Lancaster Fire Department was dispatched to the residence located at 14 Myles Standish Road following a report of a structure fire.
When crews arrived on scene, they observed smoke coming from the residence and requested mutual aid. Firefighters then entered the residence and contained the fire to one room.
All of the residents made it out safely, the Lancaster Fire Department said in a statement.
While conducting a secondary search, Lancaster firefighters located two cats in the residence and returned them to their owners.

The Lancaster Fire Department said that Clinton Fire Captain PJ Chamberlain, who was off duty – but in the area – at the time of the fire assisted Lancaster Fire Fighters in establishing a water supply by dragging the supply line off of Lancaster’s Fire Engine 2 down the road to a hydrant and connecting it.
“The quick actions taken by Captain Chamberlain made sure Lancaster firefighters had immediate water, ensuring safety and a quick knock down of the fire,” the Lancaster Fire Department said in its statement.
Additional firefighters from the following departments also assisted the Lancaster Fire Department on scene: Clinton Fire Department , Sterling, MA Fire Department, Leominster Fire Department, Berlin Fire & EMS Department and Bolton Fire-EMS.
Boylston Fire Department and Harvard Fire-EMS provided coverage at the Lancaster Fire Station while the department’s crews were on scene.
All crews were on scene for about three hours.
Great job!
