According to police, Steven W. Vanhoof, 44, is a resident of 79 Lake Shoer Drive, Sterling, MA.

โAs Steven got out his wallet and his license, a plastic, corner-cut baggie with whitish residue inside also came out with it,โ Officer OโMalley said. โBased on my training and experience, I recognized the bag to contain cocaine; later determined to be heroin. I spoke to Officer Guerra and searched Steven for anymore drugs on his person. I found a glass pipe in his possession.โ
Officer Champagne searched Vanhoofโs wallet as well as the immediate area where he was sitting in the vehicle and located more corner-cut baggies with residue in them.
Vanhoof was then arrested for Possession of a Class A Drug (heroin).
โIn booking Officer Alex Ruel found another bag that had more whiteish/brown residue tied off inside the wallet,โ Officer OโMalley said. โAfter being read his Miranda rights, Steven admitted to occasionally smoking heroin when he did not have his Suboxone. There was also burnt tin foil and a pipe found on his person. These articles did not appear to have residue on them and were discarded.โ
Vanhoof was released on bail.
