WORCESTER — Police are investigating an early morning drive-by shooting that left two people injured on Southbridge Street.
Around 3:27 a.m. on February 24, officers responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations for gunfire. Upon arrival, they found approximately 30 shell casings in the Southbridge Street area, according to a statement from the Worcester Police Department.
An initial investigation determined that three men were in a vehicle stopped at a red light when another vehicle pulled up behind them and opened fire. The suspect vehicle then drove off, while the driver of the targeted car transported the injured passengers to a nearby hospital.
Two of the three men were treated for gunshot wounds, though their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The Worcester Police Department’s Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit are investigating the incident.
