“As I was enroute to Conway Petrol dispatch advised me that the caller hit the other individual with an ice scraper,” Officer Parrish said.
“When I arrived with Officer [Ronald] Olin, I spoke to Mr. Alex Quiles,” Officer Parrish said. “Mr. Quiles was standing next to his vehicle at a pump.”
According to police, Alex O. Quiles, 32, is a resident of 132 Hall Street, Leominster, MA.

“Mr. Michael [last name redacted], who was a witness, was next to his truck behind Mr. Quiles,” Officer Parrish recounted. “I spoke to Mr. Quiles and Officer Olin spoke to Mr. Erali.”
Michael, the witness, told Officer Olin that as he pulled into the gas station, the customer involved in the incident, Quiles, pulled forward and backed up.
“Michael then said that he parked behind Alex to get fuel,” Officer Olin said. “Michael said that once he started to pump gas, he hopped into his truck and started to go through receipts when he heard yelling and looked up and saw the clerk with a hammer and Alex backing up [in his vehicle]. Michael then stated that he saw the clerk approaching Alex and Alex yelling, ‘Stop, get back.’ Michael said he did not see anyone get hit but witnessed Alex swinging the ice scraper.”
Meanwhile, Quiles told Officer Parrish that his visibility was limited due to ice on his windshield, which led him to pull over at Conway Petrol to clear it. As he was scraping the ice, Quiles said the station’s clerk, 54-year-old Ayman Abdalla, began yelling at him to move his vehicle.
“Mr. Quiles moved his vehicle to a pump and began pumping gas, however, Mr. Quiles stated that Mr. Abdalla’s English was broken and hard to understand,” Officer Parrish said.
Quiles said that after moving his vehicle to a pump, he resumed scraping the ice off his windshield, but Abdalla began yelling at him again.
“Mr. Abdalla yelled at Mr. Quiles again, but this time, Mr. Abdalla had a hammer in his hand,” Officer Parrish said. “Mr. Quiles was under the impression that Mr. Abdalla was going to hit him with the hammer, so he yelled back. When Mr. Abdalla got closer, Mr. Quiles struck Mr. Abdalla with the ice scraper. After Mr. Quiles struck him, Mr. Abdalla went back inside the gas station and Mr. Quiles called the police.”
After hearing Quiles’ side of the story, Officer Parrish and Officer Olin went to speak with Abdalla.
“When I walked into the gas station, I saw that Mr. Abdalla was bleeding from his forehead and the side of his head,” Officer Parrish said. “Officer Olin asked if Mr. Abdalla needed an ambulance. Mr. Abdalla stated that he did not need an ambulance at this time. After speaking with Mr. Abdalla, I had no issues understanding him.”
Abdalla said that when Quiles first pulled into the gas station, he parked in the middle of all four pumps and began scraping ice off his windshield. Abdalla asked Quiles to move his car to the front of the store or into another parking lot if Quiles wanted to scrape ice off his vehicle.
“Mr. Abdalla was in the process of removing the ice from the parking lot so that customers wouldn’t slip on the ice,” Officer Parrish said. “Mr. Abdalla turned around and began breaking the ice on the ground with a hammer. Mr. Abdalla then stopped stating his side of the story and asked for an ambulance because his head had not stopped bleeding yet. Officer Olin then called for an ambulance as I listened to Mr. Abdalla continue to tell his story until the ambulance arrived.”
Abdalla continued, stating that when he turned around, Quiles was scraping ice off his windshield again.
“Mr. Abdalla yelled that he asked Mr. Quiles not to scrape off ice near the pumps,” Officer Parrish said. “Mr. Quiles then yelled that Mr. Abdalla was a ‘motherf*ck*r.’ Mr. Abdalla then walked towards Mr. Quiles, but forgot the hammer was in his hand. Mr. Abdalla told Mr. Quiles that he did not want Mr. Quiles on the property anymore. Mr. Abdalla followed Mr. Quiles when Mr. Quiles started hitting him with an ice scraper. Mr. Quiles put his hand up to defend himself. Mr. Abdalla stated he did not swing the hammer at any point in the altercation. Mr. Abdalla then turned around and fled to the gas station. Mr. Abdalla had blood on his left hand and on the left side of his head.”
Officer Parrish added, “After hearing both sides of the story, it is clear that Mr. Abdalla had caused Mr. Quiles to be fearful for his safety due to Mr. Abdalla walking directly towards him, yelling, looking visibly angry, all while carrying a hammer. I believe that a reasonable person would be fearful due to those facts. I placed Mr. Quiles under arrest for Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon due to the fact that, even though Mr. Quiles felt as if Mr. Abdalla would strike Mr. Quiles with the hammer, Mr. Abdalla did not and Mr. Quiles caused bodily injury to [Ayman’s] forehead, side of head, and left hand with an ice scraper. Mr. Quiles had multiple chances to retreat. When the situation began to get tense and a confrontation seemed likely, Mr. Quiles did not get into his vehicle to leave the property after being told to leave by Mr. Abdalla. When Mr. Abdalla walked towards Mr. Quiles and Mr. Quiles felt he needed to defend himself, Mr. Quiles struck Mr. Abdalla an excessive amount of times. Mr. Abdalla was in a defensive posture attempting to retreat and Mr. Quiles continued to strike Mr. Abdalla. Mr. Quiles did not stop striking Mr. Abdalla until his ice scraper broke. Mr. Abdalla had several cuts on the left side of his body and Mr. Quiles did not have a single injury indicating the altercation was entirely one sided and not justified self-defense.”
Officer Parrish requested a summons for Abdalla for the following (Officer Parrish’s explanation for the charges are in quotations):
- Assault with Dangerous Weapon: “Mr. Abdalla had a hammer in his hand, walked directly towards Mr. Quiles while yelling, and appearing to be angry and agitated, causing Mr. Quiles to be in fear of his safety,” Officer Parrish explained.
Officer Parrish placed Quiles under arrest for the following:
- Assault & Battery with Dangerous Weapon: “Mr. Quiles used an ice scraper to hit Mr. Abdalla multiple times on the hand and head causing Mr. Abdalla to bleed,” Officer Parrish said. “Mr. Quiles broke the ice scraper hitting Mr. Abdalla with it.”
Quiles was arraigned in Leominster District Court on Feb. 18, 2025. Following his arraignment, Judge Mark Noonan released him on personal recognizance with the condition that he stay away from Conway Petrol and Abdalla.
Quiles’ next court date is a pretrial conference scheduled for March 21, 2025.
