Worcester celebrates Irish heritage and community spirit at 43rd annual St. Patrick’s parade

WORCESTER —The city of Worcester was awash in green on Sunday, March 16, 2025, as the 43rd Annual Worcester County St. Patrick’s Parade made its jubilant return. The parade commenced at noon from the intersection of Park Avenue and Mill Street, proceeding along Park Avenue for approximately 1.8 miles. ​

This year’s procession showcased 36 intricately designed floats and 14 musical bands, representing over 40 community organizations. Spectators were treated to a diverse array of performances, from traditional Irish step dancing to contemporary musical acts, reflecting the rich tapestry of Worcester’s cultural community. ​

Kate McEvoy, a healthcare executive who previously worked as a vice president for corporate relations at UMass Memorial Health Care, served as the Grand Marshal for the 2025 Worcester County St. Patrick’s Parade. According to The Worcester Guardian, she was chosen for her outstanding contributions to Worcester County, her Irish heritage, and her dedication to civic and community initiatives.

The parade drew thousands of attendees, including families, local officials, and visitors from neighboring regions. The event not only celebrated Irish heritage but also fostered a sense of unity and community spirit among Worcester residents.​

The Worcester County St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, which puts on the parade, is a non-profit organization which relies on individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising activities to bring this annual celebration to life.

As the final float passed and the sounds of bagpipes faded, attendees departed with smiles and fond memories, already looking forward to next year’s celebration.​
