LEICESTER — On Friday, February 21, 2025, members of the Leicester and Spencer Police Departments executed a search warrant at 31 Towtaid Street in Cherry Valley.

“The targets of the investigation were Sean M. Dufault and Wayne E. Dufault,” Det. McCauley said. “Both individuals are known to reside at the home, although Wayne Dufault was incarcerated at the time of the warrant’s execution.”
According to police, Sean M. Dufault, 52, is a resident of 31 Towtaid Street, Apt. 1, Cherry Valley, MA.

“Thirty-one Towtaid Street is a two-family home,” Det. McCauley said. “Through past police encounters and investigation, it is known that the Dufault family owns the entire premises. It is further known that Sean and Wayne Dufault reside in the upstairs unit, while the downstairs unit was currently vacant.”
Det. McCauley said that upon executing the search warrant, Sean Dufault was found in the downstairs apartment, where he was conducting renovations. A search of his person revealed a glass pipe containing residue.
“Through my training and experience, I recognized this as the kind of pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine,” Det. McCauley said.
Det. McCauley stated that, also inside the downstairs unit, police located a small bag containing a white, rock-like substance he recognized through his training and experience as suspected crack cocaine.
“Inside the upstairs unit, police found several items of interest, some of which included a shotgun (leaning against the wall in Sean’s bedroom closet), a handgun (found inside Wayne’s room), several rounds of shotgun ammunition throughout the apartment, several rounds of handgun ammunition (including rounds inside of a firearm magazine),” Det. McCauley said. “Sean Dufault admitted knowledge of the shotgun and the ammunition. Neither Sean nor Wayne Dufault have a Firearms Identification Card (FID) nor License to Carry (LTC).”
Dufault was arrested and charged with:
- Possess Firearm without FID Card
- Possess Ammunition without FID Card
- Possess Class B Drug
Dufault was arraigned in East Brookfield District Court on February 24, 2025. Following his arraignment, he was released on his own personal recognizance under the condition that he abstain from drugs and alcohol, submit to random screenings, and possess no firearms.
He then attended a pretrial conference on March 25, 2025.
Dufault’s next court date is a compliance and election hearing scheduled for May 13, 2025.
