โUpon arrival I observed serious damage to both vehicles which were blocking the roadway,โ Officer Ryan Sweeney said. โI made contact with Mr. Bryan Dean. Mr. Dean explained that he had not realized the vehicle in front of him was stopped. He attempted to swerve around it and collided head-on with a gray Jeep. This area is marked by double solid lane markings as a no passing zone.โ
According to police, Bryan W. Dean, 29, is a resident of Monson, Massachusetts.
Officer Matthew Fenuccio interviewed a witness at the scene who said Deanโs vehicle was operating dangerously and attempting to pass other vehicles at approximately 10 to 15 mph over the posted speed limit of 40 mph before it failed to overtake the vehicle ahead of it and collided with the victimโs vehicle.

โThe victim was transported by ambulance with unknown injuries at this time,โ Officer Sweeney said. โBoth vehicles were destroyed from the crash, requiring tow from the scene.โ
Officer Sweeney said police discovered a black case containing the following items in Deanโs vehicle while conducting a motor vehicle inventory before the vehicle was towed:
- Two bottles of a clear liquid substance identified by Dean as GHB
- One clear Ziploc baggie containing a white crystal substance identified by Dean as crystal meth
- One plastic eye cap containing a white crystal substance identified by Dean as crystal meth
- Two plastic vials of a white powdery substance identified by Dean as ketamine
โMr. Dean was arrested at the scene and transported to the Leicester Police Department for booking,โ Officer Sweeney said. โThere he was afforded all applicable rights to include Miranda and use of a phone. During booking, he was questioned on the aforementioned substances at which point he provided the identification of the substances.โ
Bryan W. Dean, 29, of Monson, was charged with the following:
- Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle
- Possess Class A Drug (two counts)
- Possess Class B Drug
- Passing Violation
Dean was arraigned in East Brookfield District Court on April 27, 2026. Following his arraignment, Dean was released on personal recognizance. His next court date is a pretrial hearing scheduled for June 26, 2026.
