Worcester police arrest two amid clash with federal agents on Eureka Street

WORCESTER — A teenager and a 38-year-old woman were arrested Thursday morning after a confrontation involving Worcester police, federal agents, and a crowd of bystanders on Eureka Street, according to a statement from the Worcester Police Department.

The incident began around 11:13 a.m. on May 8, when officers responded to reports that a federal agent was surrounded by a group of approximately 25 people. Another caller told police that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers were on scene and refusing to show a warrant to the crowd.

When Worcester police arrived, they encountered a chaotic scene, the Worcester Police Department said. Federal agents from multiple agencies were attempting to take a woman into custody and placed her in a vehicle. As they attempted to leave, members of the crowd allegedly put their hands on the federal agents and Worcester officers, in an attempt to prevent the vehicle from departing.

According to police, as the vehicle pulled away, a juvenile female stood in front of it while holding a newborn baby. Officers told her she was endangering the child and instructed her to move. She handed the infant to another person, chased the vehicle, kicked it, and was arrested as she tried to run in front of the vehicle. She was charged with reckless endangerment of a child, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. Police said the infant was not injured.

During the arrest, 38-year-old Ashley Spring of Waconah Road allegedly pushed several officers and threw an unknown liquid substance at them. She was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (i.e., the liquid), disorderly conduct, and interfering with a police officer.

Police said the incident remains under investigation and video footage is being reviewed for potential additional charges.

  1. God bless the 25 ppl who surrounded those ice hearted ICE Agents. Particularly those who got arrested for having the courage to defend that woman or rather fellow human being who did nothing harmful or malicious to deserve being essentially kidnapped off the street by men carrying out unconstitutional Trump “orders!” Her crime?: Guilty for trying to live her life with the same asperations as of any other human being!
To all those patriotic Americans grounded in the doctrine of the U.S. Constition and it’s intent regarding “Checks and Balances,” Due Process, “Innocent until PROVEN guilty by a court of law, having the right to face their accusers and be tried by a jury of their peers!” “Freedom for all” etc. I hope if you encounter such an event you’ll be brave enough to have the courage to stand up and defy those who follow the directives of a president who goes beyond the power is granted by and laid out in the Constituon of the United States in which most or many of his orders are not his to make! They are to be put before and decided upon within Congress! You know, The House of Representatives and The Senate!

    1. No illegal alien is entitled to ANY due process, period. Ask Bill Clinton… during his administration, he signed this bill into law, revoking due process for illegal aliens.
